Lion Mom here, I've just completed my 4D3N vacation in Kuala Lumpur with 2 Young Seniors, my mom and aunt, my sister and cousin.

This trip was planned 3-4 months ago when we found cheap tickets online for SIN-KUL.

(Tip: When planning a tour with Young Seniors in the group, always ensure that there aren't too much walking, keep walking to maybe 5-10 min and anything more, you may want to take a cab. They may still look young and healthy, but some times they may have a bad foot so always make sure not to make them walk too much and space in lots of breaks.)

Day 1: Touch Down & Chill

My first day is always intentionally chill for any vacation I plan to give us time to rest from the flight and to settle in.

Our flight landed at 12pm at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) and we met with our Airport Transport to send us to our hotel. KLIA is a 1 hour drive away from where all the happenings take place in KL, so do factor this difference in.

We stayed in a Hotel in Bangsar, which is nearer to the hipster places. But because of the demographics of our group, we did not explore much of the place. But the area is central and accessible enough to be within 10-15 minutes reach of all the places we want to go to.

After check-in, first place I hit was this Korean BBQ restaurant. It's a chain but their KBBQ is the best! Leave me a comment if you want to know what is the name of the restaurant!

We spent about 1.5 hours here and walked to our next activity -- Pottery and Toy Stuffing.

Happy Hour Club

Entrance to the Happy Hour Club. It's tucked in a small alley, so keep a look out for this.

This is a DIY activities shop, they offer pottery painting and Toy Stuffing. My honest opinion, the place was really cosy and well stocked. Look at the selection of toys to choose from and for any of the activities you book with them, you'll be given a free cup of drink. I'm not sponsored by them, but I'll still recommend visiting Happy Hour Club because they are not stingy with the toy stuffing. You control how much you want to stuff them, slightly different from Build-a-Bear Workshop, where someone does it for you. Each of the regular size (it's the XL/XXL size of the Jelly Cat bunny) cost RM90 and you have to sew them up yourselves.

The Young Seniors and I opted for something more sedentary. We did pottery painting. For this activity, you might want to block out at least 3 hours and maybe prepare a template of what you would like to paint beforehand, otherwise, everything else is already provided by the store and you can immediately start painting.

Here's the cup I designed. Head over to Instagram to see what the Young Seniors drew on theirs.

My mother was elated to have this pottery painting experience but at the same time, she also kept looking at the stuffed rabbit on sale on the rack. It resembled a Jelly Cat. After she was done with her pottery painting, she went back to look at it a few times, and after much persuasion from my sister and I, she finally got her first stuffed toy!

Look at how happy she is.

Sometimes, we are so caught up in giving our own children new experiences that often neglect our parents who also didn't have the same experience because they were born in a different time. I'm so glad my sister arranged this for my mother and aunt!

I'm not sponsored by Happy Hour Cafe but it's really a good experience if you are looking for activities for the family, both young and old!

When we were done, it was about 4pm so we took a Grab to Mid Valley Shopping Centre for dinner.

We ate at Ma Maison Tonkatsu at the Sky Garden (not sure if it's an adjacent mall or part of Mid Valley). Prices were fair, but the waiting staff were rather rude. Food was decent, but if I were to choose again, I probably would havent taken my business elsewhere. But my mom was tired by now and her legs were sore, so we settled for this restaurant despite the poor attitude we were given.

After dinner, we took another 20 min Grab ride back to our hotel. Our hotel wasn't that far from Mid Valley actually, but the road wasn't direct and the car had to make a huge detour in order to reach out hotel.

And that was the end of our Day 1.
